DIY Procedure: Glovebox Rebuild

Comments: Thank you sooo much for your write-up. In the write-up, you mention the placement of the cable sheath. My cable was outside the left side slot of the glove box. Tucked into place and ensured the sheath outside the collar. Glove box opens perfectly now. Thank you much, Alan

DIY Procedure: Window regulator repair.

Comments: Thanks for the link to your informative and valuable site! I'll probably give the regulator repair a try before buying an inferior aftermarket unit. While the Uro looked like a possibility, the reviews did seem pretty mixed. I only drive the car 1,000 miles per year, so the window doesn't have to work a lot. Oh, and too bad I didn't know about the silicone treatment for the tracks before yesterday. Oh well...Cheers,.

DIY Procedure: Alarm horn

Comments: My alarm horn (and flashing lights) work, but I am unable to DISARM. I've followed all instructions for using the key remote, which shuts the alarm off as well as the LED on the console, however, when attempting to start the car the alarm system restarts. Since the alarm sounds, I hesitate to replace it if there is another issue causing the problem. Note: doors, hood, trunk lid, sunroof, and windows are all closed. Thanks!

Comments: Hi I want to update to Bluetooth if possible but your instructions don't match my car. I have Nokia mobile with bmw 6916909 module in the boot. This already has a 54 pin connector but if I try a tcu it blows the fuse in the boot. I assume the connections are different. Would you know the connection I need to make it work or have pin out diagram for it Thanks and I love the descriptions for diy you jave

Comments: Thank you for the in-depth guide on repairing the window motor. It helped me save some money and restore my old original motor to perfect working order. While getting the motor out was a bit finnicky, the rest of the procedure was a joy. Thanks!

Comments: After way too much time (web searching) & effort (attempting to free the ignition switch tumbler) I came across your GREAT site. At least I know what I'm dealing with due to your very comprehensive video on tumbler removal. You were correct that too many DIY videos out there are fairly vague for a job that seems to be at bit of hit or miss. Looking forward to finishing the job with clearer understanding. Book marking your site. Well Done.

Comments: Thanks for this great site!! today i fitted my reassembled hvc unit. But it still only produces hot air...... ill test your testing on hvc as shown.!! perhaps its only a broken circuit? inside the hvc unit there was a broken wire ...so i fixed it and measure it with a ohm meter and there was ok!

Comments: In a sea of mainly poorly done YouTube tutorials, your guide on cleaning and fixing the sunroof seals sits atop the mountain. Thank you very much for the impeccable execution. Coming from the e24/e28 world, most of these sites have died off. Very glad I found yours, through one of your Bimmerforums replies, no less!

Comments: Understood all points, but my question is Can I still use MID which comes with it built date was 03/2004 BMW X5 E53. OR do you want me to replace MID from 2005/2006 X5 E53. RESPONSE: Bluetooth TCU will work with your existing MID (no need to replace it).

DIY Procedure: Electronic Throttle Faults &Repair.

Comments: Thank you Frankie After a throttle body change, 6 months later the problem was again. My problem I was 1400 Km. far from home and when presented, I was ready to burn the car. Luckily i was able to move in 4th. speed at 2000 rpm; (around 71km in my speed indicator). When at home, after a search in internet I found your guide. I followed your procedure and now everything is fine. I added an extra sealing compound below the grommet. I never remove the throttle body from the car to do not add job.
